Scholarship Entry #1: Emily K.
After I finish my basics at Northwest Shoals Community College I will transfer to Mississippi State and study to be a veterinarian. I dream of becoming a veterinarian and improving the health of all animals in the community. I love taking care of my animals and lending a hand to my aunt at her vet clinic. Since I was little, I knew I would be a veterinarian. My dogs mean a lot to me; so I protect them and, in return, protect the public and other animals. Since I keep my dogs’ rabies and other shots up to date I not only help my dogs, but I keep the public safe. I hope and pray that I can promote responsible pet ownership through my future vet clinic. I also invest in cattle and love taking the four-wheeler or riding the horse out in the pasture to “check on” the cows, but that’s not all we do. We always stop by the pond and see if we can catch anything or just go for a swim. No matter what is going on around me, I always find peace in the open pasture. My grandfather and uncle have taught me everything they know about raising cattle, and I hope to always have some to invest my money in. While there is a risk in cattle, I feel with the proper knowledge it is significantly lower than stocks, mutual funds et cetera. I know making my career as a vet will take a long time and loads of effort but I always think of Matthew 19:26 “ …with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This verse makes all my dreams limitless. I may be scared, nervous, or just stressed sometimes but I have faith in God and His word and that always gets me through the day.
