Music Week: Best Free Music Sites

Hello all Young & Free...ites! (We'll think of a name for you some time.) And welcome to Music Week here at YFA.com! Today, we're getting things started with a rundown of some of the best free music sites online! Check 'em out and then go enjoy some free tunes!

Grooveshark - Grooveshark is a really cool site for finding, storing and browsing any kind of music you can think of. This site, through your own personalized account, allows you to organize and create playlists and scan different genres for your favorite songs. This site includes all the major music discovery tools. There's a player in the upper-right corner; a centralized search bar; uncluttered tabs for keeping your friends and tunes organized; recommendation tools; tagging capability; private messaging; applications for your Facebook, Android and iPhone; and the all-important account for keeping track of your funds for buying music. There are ads all over this site that keep it alive and well, but it's certainly an easy to use site with a lot to offer.

Playlist - The Playlist.com Music Downloader is a program that allows you to effortlessly download entire playlists of music off of Playlist.com. Playlist is an easy site for simply looking up specific music tracks and finding downloadable versions of them for free. Easily navigable for these kinds of searches, its interface is not meant for quick, easy playlists any better than other site, but it's ability to track down songs in.mp3 format from other sites makes this site special.

Pandora Radio - The Music Genome Project may sound like a scary government-surveillance program involving your iPod, your DNA, and GPS tracking, but fear not; it's merely a company that has created a free, fun online music application called Pandora, which creates personalized radio stations based on your tastes. You've probably tried similar programs in the past, but this one offers a few new twists. Pandora isn't perfect, but it is a great way to hear songs you (probably) like and to discover quality music without paying a dime.

Jango - Jango might be one of the simplest online music access sites out there. It offers a lot of info on the artist you're listening to, but it doesn't really give you a lot of options for filtering or specifics. This site allows you to choose the amount of recommended artists played. There are also some cool playlist options the you can coose for any song like "Play often", "Play sometimes", and "Never play" options. This site's service is available in many countries where competitor Pandora is not.

Stop by tomorrow to learn about the best music apps out there! All week we'll be talking about free music, cheap and easy ways to make your own and I'll even give you some insight into the music I keep in my playlist for a reason!
