McKenzie: Campaigns, People, Credit Unions, OH MY!
So, this blog post will mark the end of my campaigning to be the Young & Free Spokesperson; however, I wanted to take a moment to let all of you know what I’ve learned on this crazy, chaotic, amazingly fun journey.
I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone and talk to people whom I have never had the pleasure of meeting until this job opportunity was presented. I had to build up credibility with random people on the street in about a thirty-second pitch about Young & Free. I found that people appreciate honesty and a genuine interest in them knowing about Young & Free. It’s so much more than “I need your email so I can get a vote for this thing.”
The impression you leave on someone or the relationship you build with him or her is so important. After thinking over my “campaign trail,” I realized that this is what people what from credit unions. The main reason why each member of my family is a credit union member is because we’ve gotten to know the people that handle our money. We trust them. They know us. We know them.
When you take a genuine interest in a person, he or she will take notice. My votes have been a result of genuine interest and genuine support, and for that I am so grateful.
If you’ve taken the time to vote for Zack, Lee, or myself, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU. Good luck, guys! I’ve had a blast getting to know you and watching your hilarious videos. Y’all are awesome. Thanks, also, to Listerhill for having me in your top three! All of you are pretty awesome too. ;)
