Free music
When Napster first entered the internet world, we all thought music just became free. But when the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) saw that we didn't know copyrighted-music sharing was illegal, they came out of the dugout shouting! Well, I know we all want free music, but there has got to be a legal way to do it. But now, thanks to the advancement of the internet and advertisement, there is! Here are three ways to get free music:
1. Pandora Radio - www.pandora.com
I mentioned Pandora in a previous blog, but it is that cool! When you get to the site, you simply type in a song, artist, or composer and Pandora will create a station featuring that music and more like it. So what's the catch? Well, they will throw in a short audio advertisement every half hour or so. But here is the uncatch...>_>... once you register (for free, without spam) it saves your preferences on their server so that you can listen to your favorite station on any computer (or iPhone).
2. Slacker - www.slacker.com
Slacker is very similar to Pandora in that you choose a song, artist, or composer and Slacker will play that and things similar. I have friends that swear by it.
3. Playlist - www.playlist.com
This site is amazing. At Playlist, you can search through thousands of websites to find the the exact song you wish to listen to. Then you can build playlists from songs across the world wide web. You cane even share you playlist with a friend. Forget mix tapes, give your significant other a playlist! The negatives are you can't download the songs (that would be illegal) and the sources can be shady. Sometimes you'll find you favorite song has been remixed into "Eye of the Tiger", unless of course "Eye of the Tiger" IS your favorite song.
If you weren't familiar with these sites already, I hope you enjoy them. Have an incredible weekend!
