McKenzie's current situation:

I am currently spending my time working toward something I love: MUSIC. I've been writing, recording, performing, and promoting all year. I am eager to find a job like this one that allows me to continue to do what I love as well as learn something new as I go along. McKenzie's blog post:

My generation doesn’t get credit for much of anything good these days. The entertainment industry is no help to us as the latest celebrity basket case is top news each day. I’m here to say that not all of us follow in the footsteps of the Hollywood meltdowns! So, what makes us so great?

We are THRIFTY. I bet the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores have never had as much support as the young American “hipsters” have given. We love to get a deal whether it’s a $0.50 vintage t-shirt, the latest iTunes free download, or Free Fryday at Chick-Fil-A!

Save the independents! If there’s one thing we love, it’s finding the “next big thing” before corporate America can get it’s hands on it. Independent music (a concept very close to my heart) has never seen a brighter day than the 21st century kids championing the talented and underrated. What’s better than an independent organization with a cause? Blake Mycoskie’s TOMS Shoes has also become one of the many causes backed enthusiastically by this generation. Music, writing, photography, shoes! We are the creative brain children of independent creativity.

Gen Y has a bad rap, but we’re teaching the world to embrace frugality and keep eyes peeled for the unexpected, the amazing, the talented, and the unrecognizable greatness that is our world.
